The Cornish Selectmen announced that they have ordered a shortened nomination process in order to fill a vacancy on the Select-board by utilizing Maine Statute Title 30-A M.R.S.A 2528(4)(e)*. This is pretty much what it sounds like, it allows the nomination process to happen faster.
Cornish Selectman Nomination Schedule:
Monday, December 3, 2018, Nomination papers available
Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Signed nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk by 3:00 PM
Thursday, December 20, 2018, Absentee ballots will be available
Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Voting for Selectmen for a term ending 2020 will take place, followed by a Town Meeting and reading of the results.
