Porter resident, Shelby A Oates of SAO Cooks & Catering, launches The Greenhouse on Monday with her husband Corey by her side. Her vegan food cart will be set up in the parking lot of The Local Gear on Monday, September 16, 2019, where they will be serving lunch from about 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The plan is to be there each following Monday as weather allows. To confirm dates each week, follow Shelby on Instagram @sao_is_sowing_oates. You’ll also be able to see them as you drive by.
All of the food will be made fresh to order, so it may take an extra minute or two, but the food is delicious. The menu includes seasonal organic vegetables, local bread, proteins, even a few sweet treats!

The Greenhouse hosted a soft launch earlier this week where Corey and Shelby fed a hungry bunch. I tried the summer squash with garlic pesto pasta and smoked paprika flatbread. The noodles were perfect and flavorful. The vegetables were cooked nicely with a bit of caramelization around the edges, who doesn't love that?! More than once I've been asked if I have tried the sweet southern cornbread, so I think that is what I'll be ordering on Monday.
