Hiram Historical Society seeks treasurer

The Hiram Historical Society needs a new Treasurer.

Come join the lively Board as they work together to preserve Hiram's history and make it available to all.

This volunteer position primarily involves:

  • tracking income and expenses using an Excel spread sheet

  • providing monthly reports of income, expenses, and account balances to our Board of Directors

  • paying HHS bills and making deposits to their bank (mostly for memberships, donations, and sales of publications)

Some experience or knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting would be helpful, but a detail oriented, well organized person can do this job, especially with training from our current treasurer and on-going assistance available.

Hiram Historical Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1978, incorporated in 1984. Its headquarters is the Great Ossipee Museum (former Mt. Cutler School) located at 20 Historical Ridge in Hiram Village, Hiram, Maine 04041. We present educational programs, an annual Trash Can Turkey Roast, open the Museum regularly with exhibits, and publish a quarterly Newsletter. One current project is saving from demolition, the Ridlon Schoolhouse, a one room schoolhouse built in 1819, and rebuilding it at the Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds in Hiram. We have approximately 200 names on our mailing list.
