On Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 5 PM the public is invited for a tour of Pine Root Farm (1000 Pequawket Trail, Steep Falls, Maine) and a conversation with Ruby Nelson about her work on food access.
Ruby uses five models on her farm to share fresh produce with low-income Mainers. She'll provide an overview about how her work developed and will open the conversation for others to share their models, experiences or questions.
There will also be discussion on the UMaine Extension Harvest for Hunger program and how master gardeners and other volunteer groups are working with farmers like Ruby to address food security. Farmers, community partners, volunteers and any other interested parties are welcome. A potluck supper will follow.
