Does your dog need a little adventure?

Updated: Jul 18, 2020

It’s safe to say we could all use a bit of adventure in our lives, and our dogs are no different! Venture Doggie, in Hiram, Maine, is a new dog daycare that incorporates hiking, training, and creating better behaviors in dogs all while enjoying the beautiful Maine outdoors. This mobile daycare service picks your pups up from the Fryeburg, Hiram, Cornish and the Sacopee Valley, Standish, and Gorham Maine areas. While on the trail dogs do more than just walk. They practice self-control, safe play, and learn how to relax around excitement in the environment.

The owner and founder, Valerie Naegele, has an M.S in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology and has worked with several trainers in the dog and horse industries. She was a veterinary assistant for many years before deciding that her true life goal and passion was pursuing a career in animal behavior. Her experience in veterinary medicine and as a biology student gives her a wealth of knowledge in animal first aid, and her years of experience working with dogs and horses have contributed greatly to her knowledge of dogs. She also volunteers at the Animal Refuge League in Greater Portland and strives to give back to these dogs however she can and to learn from them as much as possible.

“Every moment with an animal is a teaching moment. You learn a lot about yourself when you work with dogs, you just have to be self-aware to communicate effectively. Working with dogs on a daily basis helps me enter their world, which is in the present, and exists moment by moment. It is extremely rewarding and I thank them every day for the lessons they have to teach me.” - Valerie Naegele

Learning how to understand why our dogs do what they do is a fascinating and rewarding journey that has always left this daycare owner searching for more answers. This holistic daycare looks at dogs with the whole picture in mind, striving to fulfill them physically, mentally, and socially.

Venture Doggie is also offering monthly free events to help owners work more effectively with their dogs. In this ever busier world of ours, there is nothing quite like taking the time to grow a pack of confident, manageable dogs who can immerse themselves in hiking the trail and truly be with you.

Valerie will be hosting a free pack walk on Sunday, September 29, 2019

4:00 PM - 5:30 PM.
