Citizen Scientists Needed to Monitor Our RIVERS

Green Mountain Conservation Group (GMCG) is gearing up to start the 2019 tributary water monitoring program (RIVERS) for the season and is looking for a few more volunteers willing to get their hands wet!

RIVERS sampling takes about 15 minutes every other week from May to October, making it an easy addition to a morning routine. It’s an excellent opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature while providing high quality data that schools, towns, and researchers use. Sampling is so easy it can be done on your way to work or before brunch with friends.

If you’d like to become a citizen scientist with RIVERS, join GMCG and the Saco River Corridor Commission (SRCC) for a RIVERS equipment and protocol training sessions on Wednesday, April 24 or Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Blue Heron House, 236 Huntress Bridge Rd., Effingham, NH, where you will learn about the program in depth. Can’t make it but still interested in joining? Contact Jill at water@gmcg.org or visit gmcg.org.
