9/7/19 Bruce Marshall at Denmark Arts Center

On Saturday, September 7th, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., the Denmark Arts Center presents Bruce Marshall - Solo.

Bruce Marshall’s music career spans 6 decades. Coming from a musical family, he learned harmony and vocal technique from his parents, who were choir singers. He first picked up a guitar in 1967 and by 1974 he was a full-time musician, playing gin mills and juke joints all over New England and Canada with his first professional band “Whitecap.”

The Boston based Bruce Marshall and the Clue cut their first vinyl on ATM Records not long after that. It was Bruce’s agent who suggested he focus more on a solo career in 1980. Fast-forward 46 years and about 10 thousand shows and it’s clear the solo path has been his strength and meal ticket. He’s shared the stage with BB King, Chicago, Brian Adams, Beach Boys, Kenny Loggins, Blood Sweat and Tears, John Hiatt, Joe Cocker, Moody Blues, Doobie Brothers, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Huey Lewis, among others. In fact, he’s shared the stage with over 250 National acts throughout his career.

Marshall teamed up with Toy Caldwell of Marshall Tucker and fronted his band in 1989 and 90, touring with Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Outlaws. They recorded a Marshall original and it appears on Bruce’s 2nd CD. Rob Caldwell called him a troubadour in a recent 207 WCHS feature. The Bruce Marshall Group just released their 7th CD, “Borrowed Time,” and Bruce has had a duo with Blues legend James Montgomery since 1994.

Marshall will dig deep into his original catalog on acoustic and resonator guitars and his commanding guitar style and expressive, soulful voice will captivate. Let’s help him celebrate his first Denmark Arts Center appearance in his hometown! He’ll have CD’s for sale and exclusive guitar string jewelry and other crafts created by his wife Michelle.
