Office Assistant Wanted
Town of Porter is seeking applicants to fill the position of Office Assistant. Responsibilities will include assisting with the collection of taxes, respond to taxpayer inquiries regarding taxes, preparation and execution of motor vehicle registrations, transfers and other transactions required by State law for motor vehicles and trailers as well as assisting with issuing birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, dog licenses, absentee ballots, and game licenses. Assistance with elections, preparation of reports for the town and various state agencies, attend Select Board meetings and record minutes of the proceedings, as needed. This position requires public contact, the handling of money, a high level of professionalism, a positive image, and the ability to handle a multitude of tasks to ensure the public is served efficiently and effectively.
Prior experience in a professional work environment; working knowledge of computers and software including WORD and EXCEL; the ability to handle sensitive issues involving the public with tactfulness; customer service skills and telephone experience. Preference may be given to applicants with prior experience working with Municipal and State systems such as TRIO and MOSES.

Qualifications:
A college degree in accounting. finance, business administration or comparable work experience in a related field.
Must have or be able to acquire a Notary Public Certification within 60 days of hire.
Town Office hours Tue.: 9AM to 6PM, Wed. & Thu.: 9AM to 3PM, Fri.: 9AM to 6PM; and the first Saturday of each month from 9AM to 12 noon, as needed.
